Chevy Chase, Maryland: A Streetcar to Home

The Chevy Chase Historical Society, which has recorded and preserved the history of Chevy Chase since 1981, produced this film in collaboration with award-winning VideoArt Productions. The 32-minute film tells the history of the community through interviews with historians and local residents, spiced with oral histories from early Chevy Chase families. It features charming vintage photographs, beautiful contemporary footage and original music by composer Robert Xavier Rodriguez, inspired by Eubie Blake’s 1915 “Chevy Chase Fox Trot.”

Zoning Authority Bill passes to Gov. Erlich for Signature

A dozen municipalities in Montgomery County would be given authority to regulate the size of houses under a bill approved by the General Assembly in the final days of this year's session. The legislation, unanimously approved by the House of Delegates and Senate, allows incorporated towns in southern Montgomery to set standards for how tall, wide or bulky a single-family house should be.

Ellen Schneider Memorial 5K Race

Paul Kaplan and other residents are planning a 5K race for October in memory of Ellen Schneider, a former Woodbine St. resident, who recently died.

Madeleno Zoning Bill does not get Gov. Erlich's Signature After All

The Madelino Zoning Bill reported on earlier has failed to receive Governor Erlich's signature and might not become law.
