Proposed rerouting of Ride On Bus from Leland Street to Brookville Road

Farooq Hussain represented the Section 5 Council at a public meeting on the evening of February 23, 2006, at the Leland Community Center. The meeting was held to hear local community views on the proposed change of the Ride On bus Route 1 from Leland Street to Brookville Road.

All of the municipal elected representatives of Chevy Chase and the Chief of Chevy Chase Village Police were unanimous in opposition to the proposed change of route. There were overwhelming views of opposition to the route change. Those who spoke urged the Ride On staff and others to press on the State Department of Highways to provide a traffic light and remote control to the buses.
