Chevy Chase Historical Society Seeks Director
The Chevy Chase Historical Society is seeking a part-time director of its Archive and Research Center, located on the lower level of the Chevy Chase Library, 8005 Connecticut Avenue. The director is an independent contractor and paid on an hourly basis, for approximately 20 hours per week. The CCHS center is open to the public on Tuesdays from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM, and the director must be at the center during those hours to greet and assist visitors. The schedule for the additional 16 hours per week is flexible and open to negotiation.
Preference will be given to applicants with a Master’s Degree or advanced coursework in history, archival studies, library science or museum studies; strong computer skills, including experience with computer applications Word, Excel and preferably PastPerfect; two to three years direct experience in the field of archival management; knowledge of professional standards and best practices concerning archives, historical societies and museums; and strong oral and written communication and administrative skills.
