                     "Ready Montgomery – Plan 9"

Montgomery County recommends that its citizens store:

1.  One gallon of water per person per day for 72 hours,

2.  Enough non-perishable food for 72 hours for each person in the
family (don't forget pet food, if applicable),

3.  Have a manual can opener,

4.  Have a change of clothes for every person in the family in
a "go" kit in case you need to go to an emergency shelter,

5.  A three-day supply of all medication for your family,

6.  Have a flashlight with extra batteries,

7.  Have a battery-powered radio for news and weather reports,

8.  Have a toothbrush, toilet paper, soap or moist towelettes, and
extra baby diapers,

9.  Have a first aid kit.

Pets are not allowed in American Red Cross emergency shelters,
except "service" animals, so plan ahead where you can take your
pet.  It may be possible to have a friend, family member, boarding
kennel or your veterinarian keep your pet.  Do not leave your pet
behind if you must leave your home during an emergency.
